New Wii channel released tomorrow

As if you didn't have enough things eating up your Wii's little memory, Nintendo are releasing another channel for you tomorrow.

Imaginatively called the 'Nintendo Channel,' it will keep you up to date with all the upcoming Wii and DS games, and will host a library of trailers, documentaries, and gameplay videos for you to watch.

But that's not all it does, it also hosts demos for you to download onto your DS, similar to the Download Stations that Nintendo had a couple of years ago.

Along with all of that, the channel allows you to recommend games you have played, view other players recommendations, and the ability to rate a game out of 5. It will also display the gamers name and age, so you will see what types of gamers play which games.

Another incorporation with what the Wii can Already do, is the fact that you cannot rate a game unless you have played it for more than an hour. Which to some, may seem a bit unfair, but it stops people from rating a game before they get to now it, or even before they buy it, so it shows a fair scoring system.

To use the Nintendo Channel, simply download it from the Wii Shop Channel, for free, any time after tomorrow.

Wario Land game for the Wii

A new Wario Land game was yesterday announced in Nintendo's latest Japanese lineup.

Wario Land Shake, imaginatively called, is set for release in Japan on the 24th of July, although there is no release date for Europe as of yet.

Wario Land is Wario's platform series which began back in in 1994 on the Game Boy, with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. This was the first game to feature Wario as a playable character, although he had appeared as the final boss in Super Mario Land 2. There are three more Wario Land games in the series with the final one appearing on Game Boy Advance in 2001. Since then Nintendo have concentrated the Wario franchise on the WarioWare series of mini-game compilations, although the character has made various cameo appearances in Mario and Smash Bros. games.

Details are sketchy at the moment. More information as the story develops.

Gears 2 Multiplayer Unveiled

American gaming magazine; Electronic Gaming Monthly, has announced that it plans to treat this months readers with an "Extensive Cover" of Gears of War's multiplayer, along with an exclusive interview with the games creator, CliffyB.

Just a couple of new features include 10-Player multiplayer, With EGM Hinting that AI bots may be able to fill up extra space. There will also be an addition of plenty of new weapons, such as the 'Gorgon Burst Pistol' and the 'Scorcher', a powerful flamethrower, that is only available once per map. The old weapons are also being tweaked, along with Epic promising more 'Super-Weapons', such as the 'Hammer Of Dawn' in the original.

There is also a feature similar to that of CapComs, 'Dead Rising', in which you can take a screenshot, upload it to a public site, and get users to vote for it, and you also get scored for how good the action is in-game. There is also speculation that you can recored replays of the action, and upload it to Xbox Live, Halo-Style.

Along with all this, there is also new game modes, such as Wingman, where four teams of two face off, and Meatflag, where you have to capture an opposing team member. This sounds like a great new feature, and should really add versatility and diversity to multiplayer, along with both new and old multiplayer maps, such as the likes of Gridlock and Subway making a return.

Unfortunately, this is all that EGM has released publicly as of yet, but if you happen to be able to import American magazines, then this months Electronic Gaming Monthly is an unmissable edtion for fans of the series.

New Wii Rabbids game to be controlled with your...arse

Ubisoft yesterday revealed how the third installment of the Raving Rabbids series "TV Party" will be controlled...with your arse! Saying it was "The first game you could ever play with your ass."

The game was demonstrated yesterday at the Ubidays Conference. It involved a frenchman sitting on the Wii Balance Board and snowboarding by leaning left or right on his buttocks.

Ubisoft's explination was that "the Wii balance board is exceptionally sensitive towards his bottom."

The in-game result of this was a rabbit riding an upside-down cow down a hill.

The player can use Wiimote and Nunchuck to do stunts, Mario Kart-style.

The Frenchman was soon joined on stage by three other players, in order to demonstrate a game called "Dancing for Dweebs."

The audience was then instructed to get to its feet for a "collective boogie." The people on stage picked up nunchuks and remotes and began waving their arms around, following the movements of stickmen scrolling by on the big screen, with the Rabbids underneath representing each player going mental to rack up massive points for each player.

However, despite 'star guest' Vernon Kay's efforts to get the audience moving, everyone remained stationary, and Ubisoft now may be regretting the idea.
